    The 2019/20 season also sees a return to the role of Figaro Il barbiere di Siviglia at both Minnesota Opera and Cincinnati Opera.Ĭarmen opens on 4 May with performances through to 19 May. Following this, Rodion will make his role debut as Humbert in Shchedrin’s Lolita with the Estates Theatre in Prague and will return to the role of Marcello in La bohème at the Bayerische Staatsoper. Next, Rodion returns to the role of Papageno in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Komische Oper in New York’s Lincoln Center as part of the Mostly Mozart festival. Paul Curran’s new production combines the traditional costumes of Carmen with extravagant scenery and rotating sets, and marks Rodion’s role debut as the glamorous torero Escamillo who wins Carmen’s love only to lose her to the wrath of Don José.
